Traveling is one of the most rewarding experiences that one can have. I would like to encourage you to go abroad and use the Spanish you have learned in class if you ever have that opportunity.
In Nicaragua we spent four days working with the ME to We organization and doing community service in the community of Los Campos. There, we helped build a school and learned about a women's group and how they are helping their communities. Then we made our way to Granada and participated in several activities including canoeing in Lake Nicaragua, and hiking and zip-lining at the Mombacho Volcano.
Guanajuato, Mexico 2014
I finally got to visit my husband’s home town in Guanajuato, México and got to meet his family members who still live there. We visited El Dormido, Yuriria, Uriangato and la Ciudad de Guanajuato.
Costa Rica 2012
13 students, 3 parents, and I spent 9 days touring Costa Rica. We had a great time and got to see Costa Rica’s amazing wildlife, including the green turtles and the four type of monkeys that inhabit the country.
Visiting Beijing with 40 other teachers during the Fall of 2011 was an amazing experience. We got to tour some of the city’s most famous landmarks, including the wall of china, the summer palace and the temple of heaven as well as learn about leading student groups abroad.
A group of 19 students and Ms. Escobar, Ms.Weber, Ms. Echard and myself spent 10 days in Spain. We arrived in Madrid and from there visited Sevilla, Cordoba, Calella, Granada, Valencia, and Barcelona.
I had the opportunity to take a two week class in Mexico while attending Bridgewater College. In Mexico I stayed with a host family in Cuernavaca and had a chance to visit Puebla, Mexico City, Taxco, and Acapulco.
I was born and raised there and it is a place that I like to visit as often as I can to stay in touch with family and friends.
